Mein Medium sind selbstgemachte Lochkameras, die ich überall auf der Welt, vornehmlich an öffentlichen Orten, verstecke. Wenn ich an den Ort zurückkehre, sammle ich die Kameras wieder ein. Die Belichtungszeit variiert dabei von Stunden, über Tage und Wochen, bis hin zu Monaten. Der Titel der Fotografien setzt sich aus dem Ort ( Drei-Letter- Code des Flughafens) und der Belichtungszeit zusammen. Momentan befinden sich ca. 80 Lochkameras in 18 verschiedenen Ländern. Durch meine Arbeit als Stewardess bin ich viel unterwegs und kehre häufig an die gleichen Orte zurück. Es gab eine Zeit in der ich die ewige Rückkehr an mir mittlerweile gewohnte Orte als wenig aufregend empfunden habe, selbst wenn es Weltstädte wie San Francisco oder Singapur sind. Deshalb habe ich mir überlegt, wie ich mir das Zurückkehren aufregender und interessanter gestalten kann. Dadurch kam mir die Idee überall auf der Welt Lochkameras zu verstecken und sie in meinem Layover, also der freien Tage vor Ort, wieder einzusammeln. Die Kameras werden dabei mit Kabelbindern an Brückengeländern, Bänken, Bäumen etc. befestigt. Durch die lange Belichtungszeit verschwindet auf dem Foto alles was sich bewegt, wie Menschen oder Autos. Nur das was regungslos ist, ist im Nachhinein auf dem Bild erkennbar, wie z.B. Gebäude oder Bäume. Anders verhält es sich mit der Sonne. Wenn man die Blende in Richtung der Sonne ausrichtet, ist diese auch in Form von Sonnenbahnen sichtbar und somit auch der Verlauf von Zeit auf der Fotografie zu erkennen.

I produce pinhole cameras and install them in public places around the world. When my travels bring me back to these places, I collect the cameras. As a result, my photographs are exposed to light for days, weeks, or even months at a time.The titles of these photographs are a combination of place and time. The three-lettres correspond to the airport code for the nearest point of embarkation, and the numbers reflect the exposure time for the image. Currently, there are over 80 pinhole cameras awaiting my return in 18 countries around the world. Due to my work as a Flight Attendant I travel a lot and mainly return to the same places. There was a time when I was less excited about freqently returning to places I labeled as familiar; even when revisiting otherwise vibrant cosmopolitan centers such as San Francisco or Singapore. Therefore I was thinking about how to reingage with a feeling of excitement and anticipation upon returning to these now familiar places. Over time, I came up with the idea to install pinhole cameras in each country I visit during my working hours, to collect them during my layovers. The cameras are often attached with cable straps on railings, benches, trees, and so forth. Through long exposure times, every moving thing such as people or cars will eventually disappear in the picture. Only relatively stationary items such as buildings or large trees will be visible afterwards in the image. It is a different story altogether with the sun. When I focus the shutter in the direction of the sun, its orbit will be shown on the image, and therefore the passing of time is visible in the final printed photograph.
